   Another Night is a 2D platformer created during my 2nd year of Game Design school.

​

   We had a full month to create the game we wanted, without any rules of constrains.

​

   As such, I created a narrative game centred around the phase through mechanic of the game Outer Bounds by Watermelon.

The game was created to be relaxing with a peaceful music and simple puzzles that gradually gets harder.

​

Except for the musics, every asset in the game was created by me.

NARRATIVE

Seemingly appearing out of nowhere in an eerie world, a boy ventures into the ruins of what was once a prosperous kingdom, he discovers an enigmatic yet friendly voice taking in his head and a oddly familiar shadow silhouette disappearing whenever he tries to get close to it.

​

Guiding him through the levels, the voice tells him the life of a wise king and an immature prince, whose curiosity unleashed a powerful curse.

​

Flowing through the streets like a wild beast, the curse slowly killed and sometimes transformed humans into suffering creatures, unable to move or speak, destroying the kingdom in a flash and turning it into an everlasting night.

Near the end of his journey, the boy is put to face with the truth, a long time ago, he unleashed the curse, he is the prince.

​

Having miraculously survived the curse, he fled and continued with his life, all of this world is just a nightmare he created himself, never having truly forgiven himself for what he did.

​

Facing himself and destroying the remaining attachment he had with the kingdom, he finally accepts what he did and relieves himself of the overbearing weight of his guilt for his curiosity that can't be undone.

Personality : Unfriendly and menacing, the shadow is a mix of all the negative motions of the boy, it wants to keep him in an eternal nightmare.

The boy's journey is a visit of his remorseful mind, it shows what he think he doesn't deserve to forget.

The shadow is but a mix of his guilt and his negative emotions trying to overwhelm him.

The Darkness is a terrible curse with the ability to torn the flesh and the mind, its presence is filled with negativity.
